Catch and release!

Hennops hiking trail 2.0.

It is so important to find what works for you to keep fit, mentally, physically, and emotionally.

For me, it’s nature and fresh air, which includes hugging trees. LOL. This is how I take care of AIR FORCE -1. I call myself IR FORCE-1 because I am precious cargo. If I don’t take care of myself everyone around me will suffer including myself. A few weeks ago, went hiking at a place called Hennepos. I have been before; however, it is always different, I always have different experiences. There is something for everyone, picnic spots if you don’t want to hike, mountain bike trails.

Before he abandoned us 😀

We hiked 10km with my Amigos. The unspoiled beauty, fresh air, the sound of the river flowing is truly spectacular. The trail is nicely maintained and well-marked. This tranquil family farm has the mountain ranges to the north and south, and tranquil hennops river. The unique features on this hiking trail are the river crossings, suspension bridges and my favorite, cable car. The place has a historic cave where “Pruimpie” lived, traces of old settlements and old dolomite mines and the ovens in which the rocks were heated to melt and extract the lime. You don’t get to experience all these if you don’t hike, you will only get to read about it. Remember I said I always discover something new on the same trail, this is one of the things I learnt for the first time about “Pruimpie” se GAT. I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

Pruimpie se Gat😉

I go on hikes to unwind and forget about the real world. When am surrounded by this beauty, I feel alive; nothing beats getting lost in my thoughts when am in the mountains. The farm has a dog that decides to follow hikers when it feels like it. This time the dog decides to follow us for about 4km. We decided to give the dog a name seeing that he will be hiking with us. LOL. This has become our thing when we hike at farms that have dogs following hikers. So, we named the dog Fafa. Fafa is clever, he knows the trail so well, after about 4km he turned back because he knew from there on the trail start getting hectic, hot, no shade, rocky and downhill. The trail not friendly after 6km or so, it was scorching hot, no shade, loose stones everywhere. Downhill is brutal in the heat. You cannot walk fast so you must be very careful. Weird though some people were run through those conditions. I guess different strokes for different folks. I will say the trail is moderate in some parts, and difficult too in some parts, it has a good combination, you feel that you worked out after the 10km.

Our friend for 4km. Traitor 😃

Until next time Fabtastic people!
